Veterinary MRI & Radiotherapy Center of NJ Acquired By PetCure Oncology

Infusion of additional resources will continue to help revolutionize cancer care for companion animals.

Clifton, NJ – September 16, 2015- Veterinary MRI and Radiotherapy Center of NJ, a pioneer in providing leading-edge cancer care and imaging services to the region’s companion animals, has been acquired by PetCure Oncology, the largest provider of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) in the veterinary market. The practice, located at 1071 Paulison Avenue in Clifton, has been renamed PetCure Oncology at Veterinary Radiosurgery & Imaging Center (VRIC). PC Quote NNJ Press Release

“Cancer accounts for nearly 50 percent of all disease-related pet deaths and is the number one cause of death in older dogs and cats. Bringing VRIC into the PetCure Oncology family was a natural fit as both organizations are committed to providing the most progressive treatment options,” said JoAnn Stewart, RVT, CVPM, PetCure Oncology Chief Operating Officer. “VRIC was also one of the first locations in the nation to offer stereotactic radiosurgery, designed to cure cancer with fewer treatments and less side effects than conventional radiation therapy.

The practice was the first freestanding imaging and radiation treatment center in the world when it opened to the public in 2002. It is still their mission to improve the lives of companion animals by providing the most advanced radiation therapy and imaging services [including CT and MRI]. Not only has the center treated thousands of patients, it has become a vital educational resource for veterinarians in the New Jersey/New York region in the application of cross- sectional imaging and advanced cancer treatment.

“I have been involved with VRIC for 10 years and I am excited about bringing them into the PetCure Oncology network,” said Neal Mauldin, DVM, DACVIM (Internal Medicine and Oncology), DACVR (RO), a triple board-certified veterinary specialist and Chief Medical Officer at PetCure Oncology. “We look forward to infusing additional resources and expertise through our scientific advisory board and enhanced clinical protocols, among many other things. The transition will be seamless and their outstanding team will remain in place.”

VRIC joined PetCure Oncology’s growing network of veterinary radiosurgery centers with sister locations in Phoenix and Cincinnati. Centers in Wisconsin and Illinois are set to open in the coming months with many more locations across the country in various stages of development.
